Weekend Brunch at Notable
I’m a big fan of eating breakfast at any time of the day. This is probably why I love brunchtime as it gives me a giant window in which to eat all my favourite breakfast foods (not that the evening hours are much of a deterrent). Like many Calgarians, flocking to my local brunch hangout is a weekend must – but the lineups are a super drag. The bf and I have been exploring non-traditional brunch restaurants to get our morning fix while avoiding the crowds of the popular brunch spots.
I was super happy to discover that NOtaBLE does a quality brunch menu on the weekends and even adds live entertainment on Sundays. A big plus is that you can make a reservation, meaning less time waiting and more time eating!
We stopped by the fine dining establishment on a Saturday ready to get our brunch on. With quite a few options to choose from on the menu, we settled on a couple of dishes to share. The “steak & eggs” is not our usual MO for brunch but we are addicted to patatas bravas which swayed our votes. We were in the mood for a “hearty” dish to split between the two of us.
Our second option was the NOtaBLE skillet which intrigued us for the variety of items it included like eggs, chorizo, goat cheese, and torta Española (a cheesy, potato-y, quiche-like slice). One of the highlights of the meal had to be the brown butter hollandaise on top of the poached eggs in the skillet. So much flavor in such a delicious garnish.
Both dishes came with the deliciously awesome housemade bread, lightly toasted and buttered. Normally I hate filling up on bread at a meal, but I couldn’t get enough of the stuff. If NOtaBLE ever starts selling their bread, I will be lining up to buy a few loaves every week.
Check out the pics below! If you’ve enjoyed NOtaBLE for lunch or dinner before, you will be more than satisfied with what their brunch has to offer. Bon appétit!
