Summer cocktails to try in Calgary
It’s been such a nice spring in Calgary, so you’ll have to forgive me for already thinking it is summer. Calgary restaurants are getting their patios ready for the warm weather and I for one, will be taking advantage. There’s nothing better than a refreshing summer cocktail on a nice hot day. Whether you’re doing a happy hour after work or just enjoying a night out on the weekend, there are plenty of bevies and locations to go visit. Here’s a few to start with:
Bar C – Chimango
The Chimango reminds me of an all-inclusive resort vacation as the restaurant cheekily describes it as the drink that “…will take you right back to the time you can’t remember in Mexico.” True story. Grand Marnier, Mezcal and lemon mango juice is topped with a wedge of tamarind candied fruit.
Ki Japanese – Spring Sake Cocktail
Ki Japanese is known for its extensive sake collection which they make good use of in this refreshing cocktail. Sake is mixed with raspberry vodka, fresh berries and ginger ale for a bubbly and fruity drink.
Local 510 – Sangria
What’s summer without a little sangria? 510 makes it to order with fresh juices, liqueurs, and your choice of red or white wine.
KLEIN/HARRIS – Caesar
I’ve already written about KLEIN/HARRIS’ reinvented Caesar, but it’s so different and cool, it deserves a second shoutout.
Shokunin – Smoked Old-fashioned
This drink is smoking – literally. Shokunin is offering a twist on the old-fashioned for those that like an even richer, smokier flavor for their classic cocktail.
The Keg – Rosemary Gimlet
I feel like the 4th Avenue Keg has one of the most underrated patios in town. You’ll be sure to find me there enjoying the citrus goodness of their Rosemary gimlet. Hendrick’s gin is combined with limoncello, lemon juice and a full sprig of fresh rosemary. Delicious. Try it yourself by entering my contest to win a $50 gift card to The Keg. Cheers!
