Summer Bites: Tuna Tacos and more at Ki Japanese
The upcoming summer season means plenty of new menu items at many of my favourite restaurants. Fresh flavours and ingredients are the recipe du jour which means Calgarians will have tons of good eats to look forward to this season.
The first new dish I have fallen in love with are the tuna tacos at Ki Japanese. This delicious Asian twist is sure to be a summer catch. The shells are made from crispy wonton wrappers and filled to the brim with fresh Big Eye tuna ceviche, a ginger-tinged sour cream and mouthwatering guacamole. I’m a sucker for anything with avocados in it and this hits the spot. The tacos give big crunch and big taste.
If the tacos weren’t enough to reel me in, I’m also looking forward to enjoying a happy hour on Ki’s amazing downtown patio. It’s the perfect spot for the ladies to grab a drink after work and kick off the weekend. Also new to the summer menu is the Pomberry Mojito, another twist on a classic menu item. It’s made with sake, pom juice, lemon juice, blueberries and a touch of mint. This is the kind of drink that goes down easy – really easy because it’s so darn tasty. The restaurant also does buck-a-schuck happy hour every Monday to Friday. It’s rare to get such a good deal for oysters on a Thursday or Friday so I’m happy to start my weekend this way.
Buck-a-schuck oysters are avail Mon-Fri from 3-7pm at @kiJapanese. I know where I’m going after work now… #yyc pic.twitter.com/M9NaTUTHM7
