Pucker: A Cookbook for Citrus Lovers
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, lemon loaf cake, lemon buttercream, lemon-lavender shortbread, and lemon-rosemary lamb chops, just to name a few. That’s what local writer Gwendolyn Richards did with her new cookbook Pucker. This delicious and juicy cookbook is an ode to the citrus fruits that give us that tang and make our tastebuds pucker.
If you thought that lemons and limes were only good for putting in your water glass, then you have been missing out. The recipes in the book focus on four main citruses: lemons, Meyer lemons limes and grapefruits. Dishes range from soups to salads, mains to desserts, breakfast to dinner and we can’t forget the all-important drinks and cocktails. The items that have caught my eye include the Grapefruit Polenta Cookies, the Meyer Lemon Curd, the Chicken Lemon Chorizo, and even the simple broiled grapefruit. Who would think to broil their fruit? The options are endless!
Below are pictures of just a few of the 90 recipes available in Pucker. I love that all the recipes are easy to follow and use simple ingredients that you probably already have in the cupboard. You can pick up a copy of Pucker at Owl’s Nest, Cookbook Company, Knifewear and Chapters/Indigo.
